OUTDATED Duron 800Mhz 128MB Memory and 20GB Hard Drive
Specs: This is a good computer to get on the internet and do e-mailing, and can be upgraded to be an almost-new system for a teenager (it will take a 2600+ processor). It would have cost over $600 two years ago. The AGP slot provides for graphics upgradeability, and the system's processor can be more than tripled in speed relatively cheap. It can also handle up to 1.5GB of memory. I will fully patch the system with the latest security updates before purchase, and warranty it for 6 months. If you would like to upgrade any parts I would order and install them for free before delivery. I am asking $190, which I think is very fair.
This is Red Moon Computers' current portable system. It is a very powerful computer. The system is around two years old, and has a three-year complete care warranty. This means if anything goes wrong with it, even if you step on it or spill coffee on it, you can have it replaced with a system of equal or greater value. It has a mobile Pentium 4 processor, so it performs like a new computer would, but can be configured to run at a lower speed to save battery power. It is clocked at 1.8Ghz. It also features 1GB(!) of DDR system memory (with a lifetime warranty). The video card, a GeForce4 Go 440, is one of the first available to be really conducive to graphics-intensive applications, such as watching extremely high-resolution DVD videos, or gaming, and has 64MB of on-board memory (this is independent, and does not utilize system memory like most laptops today). The system also has a 60GB hard drive for plenty of storage space, and comes with Windows XP Professional. I requested built-in wireless access, so there is an 802.11b mini-PCI wireless adapter installed. I had a CD writer and DVD reader added, so you can burn CDs and watch DVD movies mobilely with ease. There is also a TV-out port and adapter so you can use your laptop as a DVD player for any TV system. The system has a floppy disk drive. For expansion, there is an infra-red port, two PC card slots, two USB ports, a 1394 (firewire) port, and all the standard stuff (serial, LPT (printer), 3 x audio, docking station, monitor, V.92 modem {with voice, fax, and modem-on-hold capabilities}, and network adapter). I got the highest-quality screen available at the time, a 15.1" Ultra-XGA LCD panel, for up to 1600x1200 graphics (and movies look awesome on it). The built-in speakers are high-quality, and can be turned up loud if necessary. In addition to all of this, there is a docking station, which allows you to push your laptop in when you come home, and instantly use a very high-quality Viewsonic (19") G90fb monitor, as well as a loud set of JBL speakers with sub-woofer, Microsoft multimedia keyboard and optical wheel-mouse, all included in the package. Microsoft Office XP Small Business Edition, Streets and Trips and a year's free internet access are just some of the software you'll receive. It should be noted the docking station has another ethernet adapter, so you can leave your broadband service plugged in, and still have one networking port available. I have a very handy carrying case with a compartment the computer fits into perfectly, and is held in place by a strap. There is plenty of room for the AC adapter, several CDs, a phone line, USB cable and network cord for total internet connectivity, as well as all of the original paperwork. The case has a spot for your cell phone, too. If all of this isn't enough, there is a Targus Defcon 1 theft device, allowing you to lock your laptop or laptop case to something solid with a steel cable. There is a VERY loud alarm that shrieks if the cable is cut, and the device has multiple settings for motion sensing. If you are interested in the computer I will wipe out the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP (and all available updates/patches/service packs), so it behaved like it was brand-new from the manufacturer, with extras. I have also decided to include my Epson Stylus Color 900 printer, which prints up to 1440dpi (truly awesome photo-quality printouts). For all of this and more, I am asking $1000. The price and parts included are negotiable, however I will not sell the system without the docking station. I will also include USB 2.0 adapter with two ports. 09/04 - Had laptop serviced and LCD monitor was replaced with a brand new screen. I recently priced out a comparable system on Dell and it was valued over $3100. A new Dell laptop would have a lesser warranty, less extra software and no customization, to name just a few reasons why this system is a great buy. Please feel free to call me if you would like any further information, my number is 608-741-6666. |
